FAQ for Principals

What procedures do you recommend in verifying a sub's identity and qualifications?

It is of course the responsibility of the school to use their usual protocols for verifying a substitute teacher's qualifications and identity. These may include:

I can't log in to my account. I have registered as a Principal. Does it take a while before I am authorised?

When you register as a Principal your account details are manually verified by a Site Administrator.

We endeavour to do this as efficiently as possible. However, if you have registered and find that after a period of time you still cannot access your account please contact subsearch@into.ie for verification.
You need to click on the word 'Principal' underneath the password boxes at which point the roll number fields will appear.
Fill in the school roll number and click the word 'Verify' before proceeding. This will automatically fill in the school name.
You may need to log out of your account and back in or try logging in on a different web browser (examples of web browsers are Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome).
If you didn't log out of your previous session using the site, some features of Subsearch may not work properly.
INTO Subsearch has sourced data from the DES database of schools. All name amendments must be submitted to the DES at info@education.gov.ie Any amendments that are accepted by DES will be transferred periodically to the Subsearch website.

In the meantime, if you ALSO email subsearch@into.ie we will be happy to update the database as you request. For future, we intend to explore a more streamlined approach to keeping the 2 databases aligned.
After logging in to your account click on ‘Edit my School’ from the menu on the top right (please note this menu is not available on the mobile version of Subsearch).
Check the Google map to see if the location of the pin is correct for your school. If it’s incorrect, click on ‘Change Point’ then click on the correct location on the map to move the pin. Click on ‘Save School Details’ to save your changes.
